Mr. Ben Stewart began his study of the martial arts at the age of 8. Since 1998 Mr. Stewart has been a member of the WKA Canada National Team as well as a coach of his own students competing at various national and international events. In the last 6 years, Mr. Stewart has personally trained and coached his students at the Canadian Sport Martial Arts Academy (www.ottawakarate.com) to over 45 gold medals in semi-contact, light contact and weapons divisions at the annual WKA world championships. Mr. Stewart’s highly competitive attitude and determination for success has earned him 6 WKA world titles in semi- and light contact as well as 3 WAKO world titles in the same events in the past 8 years.
With his recent appointment to president of WKA Canada, he has hung up his fighting gloves as a WKA competitor and will instead apply the same persistence and aggressiveness that made him a champion fighter to building WKA Canada into the premier sport martial arts organization in the country. However, before retiring from WKA competition Mr. Stewart returned from a 3-year hiatus to compete at the 2008 WKA worlds in Florida to not only reclaim his world title in semi-contact (+90 kg) but he also captained, coached and won all of his fights to lead Team Canada to the team fight gold medal over a strong German team.
Mr. Stewart is the published author of Millionaire in 90 Days - Working Out at the Gym (www.ben-stewart.com), an inspirational and informative guide for improving your health, wealth and lifestyle. Apart from his involvement with WKA and operating a successful martial arts academy, Mr. Stewart is the CEO of Ontario’s largest residential property maintenance company (www.springmasterscanada.com) and personally funds the Health, Wealth & Lifestyle Success Scholarship each year to help dozens of Canadian students with their post-secondary tuition costs. We are very pleased to announce that the H.W.L. Success Scholarship fund will also cover the full travel expenses for 1 member of the WKA Canada National Team to get them to the 2010 WKA world championships in Scotland!
Mr. Stewart continues to compete on the NASKA and WAKO tournament circuits and is committed to transforming WKA into the most prestigious sport martial arts organization in Canada and the world.
